ABOUT
My Beginning
Growing up, Sandra always baked and decorated her desserts with anything she found in the cupboards, naturally, leading her towards a profession in the culinary arts. But she didn’t realise that yet. After a few years in Architecture, she felt as though something was missing. This propelled her to search for a new artistic field. Naturally being a keen learner, explored various mediums from traditional art to jewellery design. However, nothing fit quite so perfectly as her discovery of a Cake Decorating course at a local community college. It was then that her obsession and love for sugarcraft began. Soon after, with the support from her friends and family, she jumped at the chance to do this professionally and founded The Sugar Art House.
Going it alone
Without much experience behind her regarding cake decorating or running a business on her own, she jumped at the chance to try something new. But, being a mother as well as starting a new company, she had to quickly find a balance as to give her new venture a proper go. This meant many late nights, mistakes and at times, much uncertainty. Nevertheless, she knew that this was her passion, so she pushed through and to date, has a range of clientele, full classes and awards won in national cake competitions.
Gold Award Winner
“Floral Bridal Headpiece” was my most unusual chosen category yet. There weren’t many guidelines within this competition which although giving us much freedom, made it even more challenging. I decided to make wafer paper my chosen medium; however, the main difficulty was the manipulation and the abundance of sugar flowers which I had to incorporate amongst it. It was tiresome and extremely fiddly, but it was thanks to those minor details that I won the Gold Award.

Accredited Demonstrator
I became an Accredited British Sugarcraft Demonstrator in early 2021. As a result, I have taught more adults and children in person and over zoom, with my sugar flower demonstrations being the most popular. I am thrilled to have achieved such an accomplishment and can’t wait to share my passion and knoweldge with others soon.

«My mission is to inspire, create and recognise my students potential so that they can explore their individual creativity and achieve handmade sugarcraft creations which are truly exceptional for any special occasions.»
